My partnership with Harbor Habitat for Humanity began with my platform “Empowering Women to Build.” Having been involved in construction for 17 years, I saw the difference that knowledge of basic skills could do for the confidence of women. It’s my belief that empowering women to educate themselves in male dominated fields not only builds self esteem and confidence but also opens the door to career opportunities. It’s my goal to help women, children and families across the country through mentoring, educating and empowering them to join the movement and build something!
I am also a Board Member for an amazing cancer organization; Pennies From Heaven. Pennies From Heaven supports cancer patients ages 21-30 with every day financial needs. There are various fundraisers throughout the year that are held to raise the funds needed to aid in every day needs such as gas for patients going to treatments, hotel bills when treatments are out of the area, monthly utility bills they can not pay due to missed work and even a student loan payment at times.
Through my last two years of service work I helped raise with the love and support of our surrounding communities and volunteers over $45,000 for non-profit organizations in need; The Humane Society, Operation Moving Forward, Pennies from Heaven, The Lions club, The Southwest Michigan Scholarship Program and many others!
I am excited to represent my beautiful state of Michigan at the national competition, Mrs. America 2016. I promise to do my best this year and am here to support, honor, encourage and love not only the citizens in my state but around America!
Do you want to be the next Mrs. Michigan America?
